Skate Canada - Saskatchewan is excited to host the new STAR 1 - 4 Officials training clinic for new officials. This clinic is part of the new STAR 1-4 Event Official Qualification Pathway launching later this fall and will thus serve as the pilot for Skate Canada. It will be held virtually over three evening sessions in the comfort of your own home.

 

Dates:

Tuesday, October 12th - 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.*

Thursday, October 14th - 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.*

Monday, October 18th - 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.*

(*All times are SK time.)

Note: You MUST be in attendance for all three sessions. Participants who complete the training will be able to proceed to gaining their full qualification as a STAR 1-4 Event Official. 

Pre-Requisites:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must have a skating background. A skating background means you must have passed any two STAR 5 Freeskate, Skills, Dance assessment or higher (previously Jr Bronze); or any one STAR 6 Freeskate, Skills or Dance assessment or higher (previously Sr. Bronze).

 

There are also a few pre-course modules to be completed before the first day of training, Tuesday, October 12th. These can be found on Skate Canada’s e-Learning site:.

1) Complete the modules of the STAR 1-5 Coach Assessor online training that pertain to officials.

2) Complete the Officials Code of Ethics.

3) Read through the STAR 1 - 4 Resource Guide and complete the Knowledge Check (available end of September).

 

More information on the above items will be conveyed to you once you have registered. There is no charge to attend the online training.

The number of participants in this virtual clinic is limited to 12, so don’t delay! Deadline to register is Monday, September 27, 2021.
