STARSkate / Black Boots Seminar

Act Arena

The Skating Programs Committee is thrilled to announce a one-day seminar designed to provide skaters with a structured and inspiring environment to kick start a successful season of training and competition.

This seminar is tailored for skaters at STAR 3 – 10, Gold, and Pre-Juvenile – Novice levels who are preparing for upcoming Regional Competitions, the Winter Classic Competition, or assessment days. There are no age restrictions!

Male figure skaters will be grouped (Black Boots) together to foster a greater appreciation for the sport and to highlight the benefits of participating. Our instructors will create a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere to motivate male skaters to advance to higher levels. We aim for participants to feel part of a supportive community of male athletes with shared goals, while also gaining valuable technical knowledge to aid their progress.

Seminar Format:

  • On-ice sessions will cover jumps, spins, stroking, footwork, presentation, and a synchro session.
  • An Intro to Pairs session will be available at no additional cost on Sunday morning as part of the Black Boots Seminar.
  • Off-ice sessions may include fitness, nutrition, theatre/dance, and a “Behind the Scenes” session.
  • Skaters will be grouped by free skate level and age.
  • A Parent Information and Q&A session will be included.
  • Coaches are encouraged to attend with their skaters at no charge.
  • Participants can register for the Prospects Program Simulation the following day and make it a skating weekend with 2 great opportunities.
