STAR Winter Kick Off Seminar

The Athlete Development Committee is very excited to be offer a one-day STAR WINTER KICK OFF SEMINAR. This seminar is a valuable learning experience preparing skaters for training and competing at the STAR 2 to 10, and Gold, Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile levels.

The STAR Winter Kick Off Seminar is an important program helping skaters and coaches develop skills that will support a successful skating season.

This seminar targets skaters who will; compete upcoming Regional competitions, Winter Classic, doing assessments, and those thinking of applying for the Junior Development Team (JDT) or Developmental Team (DT). 

Seminar Information

  • On-ice sessions will focus on basic skills in skating (jumps, spins, stroking, footwork & presentation), synchro session.
  • Off-ice sessions for this age level may include off ice jump session, fitness and nutrition, and a theatre/dance class, judges information session.   
  • Skaters responsible for their own lunch.
  • Coaches with skaters in the seminar are welcome to attend at no charge.
  • Parents may observe all sessions.
  • A parent session is planned during the day.
  • Skaters will be grouped according to their free skate level.


This seminar has been organized to be great FUN and EDUCATIONAL.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
 

Development Team Monitoring & Pair Mix & Match

There will be a JDT and DT monitoring and information session on Saturday, November 23rd from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM as well as the beginning of the Black Boots Seminar on Sunday, November 24th from 8:45 AM – 10:00 AM for those skaters and coaches who have skaters that are interested in joining the JDT or the DT.

Skaters who are attending the STAR Winter Kick Off Seminar on Saturday can attend the Pair Mix and Match on Saturday at the end of the STAR Winter Kick Off  Seminar and Sunday morning at the beginning of the Black Boots Seminar.

This mini seminar is to give female and male skaters an introduction to pair skating.

 

Eligibility and Selection

Skaters must be eligible to compete at the STAR 2 to Gold categories, Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile levels. Junior Development Team Development Team members are encouraged to attend as well. No age limits!!

 

Acceptance on a first-come – first-served basis – A limit may be set if required.

                  *Those who have attended before are welcomed to apply.

 

Registration Fee: $ 100.00 (includes any manuals and all activities).  Online registration closes on November 18th at 9:00 PM.

Accommodations: Seminar participants are responsible for their own accommodation.

Lunch: Seminar participants are responsible for their own lunch. The concession will be open for beverages, food, and snacks.
