Carrot River Region #11 CanSkate FunFest

Skate Melfort is excited to be hosting the CanSkate FunFest this skating season for the Carrot River Region! Plans are underway and we hope you join us for a fun filled day on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

There will be 3 events (Elements, Fast Track and Team). Registration fee is $30/skater, regardless of the number of events they wish to enter, so it is to their benefit to enter all of the events. To encourage participation, the team event may consist of 2-4 skaters. All events will be assessed to a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Merit level, based on a corresponding rubric. Each skater will receive a certificate and a ribbon for each event they enter. Presentations of certificates and ribbons will occur at the end of the day, so every skater has a chance to stand on the podium.

In the tech package, please find the list of CanSkate Elements, the list of elements for the Team event, and the specifications for the Fast Track. The skaters will have a chance to practice the elements at one end of the ice, before performing them in isolation for assessment at the opposite end of the rink. The Fast Track event will be a timed event, and the Team Event will be similar to the team event at the STARSkate level.

Please keep in mind that this is a fun event, not for competition, and is open to all levels of CanSkate in our region. The skaters are encouraged to dress appropriately in a nice outfit or skating dress, but it is our plan to keep the proceedings casual and stress free for the skaters, parents and assessment team. A brief Opening Ceremony will take place, so don’t forget to bring your club banners. A schedule will be sent to the clubs once registration has been finalized.

Finally, please remind your parents to make their cheques payable to their home club. Only one club cheque (payable to Skate Melfort) should then be submitted along with all the registration papers. Registration deadline is January 11, 2020.
