Best Practices in Hosting Inclusive Events, Part One
Sep 17, 2024
The Skate Canada Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility Operating Committee (EDIA OC) invites you to join our Community of Practice on Tuesday September 17, 2024 at 7:00 p.m ET.
Topic: Best Practices in Hosting Inclusive Events, Part One
As we gear up for the coming season, let's come together and discuss Best Practices for Hosting Inclusive Events. This two-part virtual session aims to equip you with insights to create and promote a more positive event experience - such that regardless of identity, our members, athletes, and audience will leave our events feeling excited and ready to take on what comes next.
This first session will feature individuals who will share their lived experiences as organizers and participants of skating events at various levels. The second session will be dedicated to Indigenous engagement.
Panel:
- Shay Ackerman, Event Coordinator, Skate Canada
- Olivia Marr, Ice Dancer, competed in Pre-Novice, including at the 2023-2024 Skate Canada Challenge
- Dana Mckee, Provincial Certified Coach, Regional Coach Learning Facilitator, Head Coach at Skate Winnipeg and Volunteer Competition Chair
- Megan Wing, Olympian, 5x World Competitor, 11x Canadian National Medallist and 2x Four Continents Championship Medallist
Skate Canada’s EDIA Community of Practice aims to create a common ground for learning, discussion, sharing, problem-solving, and relationship building. This enables our community to develop, share, and foster collective knowledge to guide EDIA efforts.
All are welcome to join! Please remember to save the date in your calendar: Tuesday September 17, 2024 at 7:00 p.m ET.
