2023 Call for Applications to the Skate Saskatchewan Board of Directors




The Nominating Committee is seeking prospective candidates for the Skate Saskatchewan (Section) Board of Directors. Elections will take place at the 2023 Annual General Meeting to be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 in Saskatoon, SK.


Available Positions on the 2023/2025 Section Board of Directors:

  • President – 2-year term of office
    • Bylaw 4.4 President Eligibility – In order to be eligible to be elected as President, an individual must have served the immediate previous two (2) consecutive years on the Board of Directors.
  • Directors (5 positions available) 2-year term of office

Eligibility of Directors (By-law 4.3)  To be eligible to be elected to serve as a Director, a person must

  1. Be eighteen (18) years of age or older;
  2. Be a resident of Saskatchewan;
  3. Not be an employee of the Corporation;
  4. Not be an employee or current Director of a Member Club / Skating School; with the exception of the Section Coaching Representative
  5. Have the power under law to contract;
  6. Have not been declared incapable by a court in Canada or in another country; and
  7. Not have the status of bankrupt.

All Directors of the Board shall serve without remuneration (By-law 7.10)

Composition of the Skate Saskatchewan Board of Directors
The Board will be composed of eleven (11) Directors, as follows: (By-law 4.1 & 4.2)

  1. President
  2. Treasurer
  3. Coach’s Representative (elected by the coaches of Saskatchewan)
  4. Eight (8) Directors-at-Large
    a. A Vice President is appointed from among these Directors-at-Large


Election – Directors will be elected at each Annual Meeting as follows: (By-law 4.9)

  1. The President and four (4) Directors-at-Large will be elected at alternate Annual Meetings to those listed in sub-section b.
  2. The Treasurer and four (4) Directors-at-Large will be elected at alternate Annual Meetings to those listed in sub-section a.
  3. The Vice President will be appointed by the Board, at its first meeting following the Annual Meeting, from among the current Directors-at-Large.
  4. The Coach’s Representative will be selected by Skate Canada Coaches prior to the Annual Meeting, and ratified by the Members at the Annual Meeting. If a Coach Representative is not ratified by the Members, the Board may fill the vacancy.


Application Process
Interested applicants are required to submit their application using the online form. Applications will be accepted until April 15th, 2023 at 12:00 PM (Noon) Saskatchewan time.

 The name and email of s Skate Canada registrant who would endorse your application


Election Procedures
 (By-law 4.6) Any nomination of an individual for election as a Director will:

  1. Include the written consent of the nominee by signed or electronic signature;
  2. Comply with the procedures established by a Nominations Committee (if appointed); and
  3. Be submitted to the Registered Office of the Corporation twenty-one (21) days prior to the Annual Meeting. This timeline may be extended by Ordinary Resolution of the Board.


 Nominations from the Floor – Nominations from the floor are not permitted. (By-law 4.7)
 Circulation of Nominations – Valid nominations will be circulated to Members seven (7) days prior to the Annual Meeting in which elections will occur. (By-law 4.6)
