CanSkate FunFest - Martensville

Skate Martensville is very excited to host a CanSkate FunFest on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the Martensville Sports Centre.

All Saskatchewan CanSkate skaters are welcome to register!

The purpose of this CanSkate FunFest is to provide skaters with the opportunity to showcase their skills in a fun and interactive environment. The focus of the event is on individual skill improvement and therefore performances are not ranked. Each skater receives a full overview of his/her performance on a personalized assessment sheet which is provided to the skater along with an award.

$50/skater includes participation in:

  • Opening Ceremonies – FunFest begins with an Opening Ceremony where all participating skaters take the ice with their assigned club posters. Each club is introduced and announced over the intercom and the national anthem is sung.
  • Elements – Each skater performs 4 elements in a circuit format. Each skater is assessed and given feedback on their performance.
  • Fast Track (Stages 1-3) – Each skater is timed as they skate a defined distance around the perimeter of the ice.
  • Spin Spiral Jump (Stages 4-6) – Each skater will perform a 45-second routine containing a spin, spiral and jump of choice. Each skater is given feedback on their performance.
  • Team Event – Teams are formed of 2-4 skaters from the same club. Each team member will perform 1-2 elements. Teams will be assessed as a group and will be given one standards chart with feedback for all skaters. Teams are encouraged to show their team spirit with matching costumes and/or club clothing.
  • Closing Ceremonies – The day ends with a Closing Ceremony where all skaters are presented with certificates, report cards and an award.
